Questions about analog receivers and LNBs
My receiver always switches back to standby, what should I do?
First remover the batteries from the receiver remote control in order to rule out a fault in the remote control. Otherwise a short circuit of a fault in the satellite system cannot be ruled out.
My receiver does not allow me to change programmes, what should I do?
Either the remote control is faulty or you have activated your favorite programmes. You can recognise your favorite programmes either with an ”F” in front of the programme (F---) or by dots between the numbers (..1.) . With OSD devices an F is shown in front of the programme position. With most devices, the remote control has a Favorite/Main key or a Main key in order to cancel this function.
My receiver does not supply the switchover voltage (18 Volt/14 Volt) for horizontal/vertical, what can I do?
Nearly all models allow the switchover voltage to be switched off. In order to switch it on again, switch the device to standby. Then press the STORE key for about 3 seconds, until L9.75 or L10.0 appears. Then press the STORE key twice and change the displayed value to Auto or to LPon. Then confirm this by pressing the STORE key twice.
I have changed my receiver settings, can I reset it to the default setting?
Unfortunately not – the receiver must be re-programmed manually. Please ensure that the following values for normal modern satellite systems are set under System Settings: LO Frequency = 9.75 oder 9750 and 22 OFF (22 kHz off). The setting for the station depends on the model and can be obtained from the operating instructions.
I cannot receive all of the stations which are listed, what can I do?
Increasing numbers of stations are discontinuing analog transmission. By 2010 there will probably be no more analog reception. It is certainly worth buying a digital receiver, as many hundreds of radio and TV stations now broadcast via ASTRA and EUTELSAT. You can obtain the current overview of stations e.g. under http://www.ses-astra.com and www.eutelsat.de.
My receiver becomes more than hand-warm – even in standby mode. Is this normal, or is there something which I can do?
Many satellite receivers have a mains unit which produces the necessary voltage by means of a transformer. This produces heat, which is dissipated via the housing. The cooling slots should therefore always be kept unobstructed in order to allow the heat to escape. A fire due to overheating of the transformer is prevented by the built-in thermal protection device.
The dots between the numbers flash, or are not all displayed, what can I do?
You have either pressed the Record Lock or the Lock key, possibly in combination with Favorite Channel. Press the keys in various combinations until the 3 dots no longer flash, or the dots disappear.
